As of Monday, 17 August 2026, the 89 / 89A bus service connecting North Queensferry, Rosyth, and Dunfermline is being operated by Bay Travel, replacing Stagecoach East Scotland following a Fife Council contract retendering process. This may have one benefit in that Bay Travel's vehicles are usually smaller than some of the Sagecoach Double Deck buses.
Impact
- Service Continuity: The route operates as a council-subsidised service, so timetables, route paths, and fare structures remain unchanged.
- Concessionary Travel: All standard Scottish concessionary passes (e.g., Young Persons' and National Entitlement Card / Senior passes) continue to be accepted as normal.
- Live Tracking & Mobile Ticketing: Bay Travel does not have a bespoke app. Passenger live tracking and m-tickets are managed through the myTrip mobile app (select Bay Travel within the app). Real-time stop arrivals can also be monitored via Traveline Scotland.
